“Can’t Miss” Business Podcasts You Need to Follow in 2021

A good business podcast needs to be one that people want to voluntarily listen to. Allow the topics to weave from the personal to professional, from the company to the individual. And keep it changing!

I get turned off on podcasts when I feel I’m hearing the same thing over and over from the same type of people. I want to be surprised to learn from a CEO just as I would an entry level seamstress at a fashion empire.

A good business podcast pushes the listener into uncharted territory- this is where the growth and learning happens and it’s what keeps people coming back for more. Here are my top can’t miss business podcasts for 2021:

  1. LinkedIn’s Hello Monday with Jessi Hempel

My favorite podcast I’m listening to right now is LinkedIn’s Hello Monday with Jessi Hempel – a show where folks explore the changing nature of work, and how that work is changing us. What does work mean to us? Should we love what we do? How can we switch it up? I absolutely love this podcast for a few reasons:

  1. Manageable length- typically 30 minutes or less

  2. Once per week drop- which makes the quality over quantity game deep

  3. An array of industry experts- the wide range of voices helps to continuously capture my attention each week

I love this podcast because it features a diversity of individuals and industries meaning each week provides a fresh perspective on loads of different topics.

2. How I Built This with Guy Raz from NPR

Guy Raz dives into the stories behind some of the world's best known companies. How I Built This weaves a narrative journey about innovators, entrepreneurs and idealists—and the movements they built.

I love this podcast because it’s people’s actual stories! It’s entertaining & educational, which is a hard balance to strike. I first got turned on to How I Built This podcast through a marketing class assignment so the quality and academic integrity of the podcast is top-notch all while keeping you entertained.

3. The $100 MBA Show

Awarded Best of iTunes, The $100 MBA Show is a new kind of podcast where you simply get better at business with our practical business lessons for the real world. These no fluff episodes are packed with only the pure business building training you want.

As a budding entrepreneur myself, I need a podcast that is real talk- what is happening RIGHT NOW in the market, what trends are people seeing, what do consumers want etc. And this podcast delivers!

Each episode offers real time advice, education and exploration of all things business. The recent episode focused on Passive Income, which as a side hustler (one who has a full-time job and a business) is an absolute must!
